Sunshine (Vitamin D3) Injection in Orlando
The vitamin D3 injection supplies cholecalciferol, the form of vitamin D your skin produces from sunlight. Vitamin D acts as a hormone-like regulator of calcium and bone metabolism. Deficiency can occur in Florida despite abundant sunlight, particularly when sun exposure is limited or other risk factors are present.
Sold on its own and also covered under the Vitamin Shot Membership.
Key Ingredients and Nutrients
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol): Its active form regulates calcium absorption and is involved in immune and muscle physiology.
What It May Help Support
Bone strength and calcium absorption
Immune function
Muscle function
Mood and energy
Potential Benefits
Patients with low vitamin D who correct it often notice:
Improvement in fatigue
Less muscle aching
Better mood stability through periods of limited sun exposure
As with B12, benefit is most plausible when deficiency is present, and the symptom is related to that deficiency. Correcting a genuine shortfall changes how people feel. Adding vitamin D to an already sufficient level does considerably less, and excessive intake carries its own risks.
Who May Be an Appropriate Candidate
Limited sun exposure, clothing, sunscreen, skin pigmentation, obesity, malabsorption, age, and some medications can affect vitamin D status. Risk is higher with darker skin, obesity, malabsorption conditions, and age.
Reconsider this injection if you have:
High blood calcium
Sarcoidosis or another granulomatous condition
Kidney stones or significant kidney disease
Suspected deficiency, or treatment is being considered for a clinical indication
How It Is Administered
Route
Intramuscular injection.
When
During a scheduled visit, briefly.
Who Does It
Given by our clinical team.
How Often It May Be Used
Far less often than the other injections on our menu. Vitamin D is fat-soluble and stored in the body, so dosing is typically monthly or less. This is one where more frequent is not better. Membership allows four injections a month across the whole menu, or buy this one alone.
Safety Considerations
Vitamin D is fat-soluble, which means it accumulates rather than clearing quickly. That makes it the injection on our menu where testing is most worth doing first.
Labs are optional ahead of most injections on this menu. Vitamin D is a reasonable exception, because knowing your level determines both whether you need it and how much.
Excessive vitamin D can raise blood calcium, producing:
Nausea and vomiting
Excessive thirst and urination
Confusion
Kidney stones or kidney damage over time
Tell us about calcium or vitamin D supplements you already take, and about any kidney or parathyroid condition. Injectable vitamin D preparations are compounded and are not FDA-approved products.
Talk With Our Clinical Team
25(OH)D helps assess vitamin D status, but dose and route also depend on calcium, kidney function, PTH, malabsorption, medications, and the clinical indication. The consultation is complimentary, and you can decide with no expected commitment to any particular treatment.
