Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) in Orlando

Understand Whether Low Testosterone Is Behind How You Feel

Men across Central Florida have trusted Hormone Therapy of Orlando with their care since 2014, and for good reason. Our clinical care team has over 50 years of combined experience treating both simple and complex hormonal cases.

Understanding the age-related decline in testosterone, known as andropause, is the first empowering step toward getting answers and creating meaningful solutions. We know this phase of life can bring many unwanted symptoms that affect both mind and body and how you live and move through life as a man. This is where Hormone Therapy of Orlando comes in.

What Hormone Therapy for Men Addresses

Replenishing declining or fluctuating testosterone levels may improve the following symptoms:

Fatigue

Fewer morning erections

Diminishing muscle mass

Longer recovery after exercise

Lack of motivation

Thinning hair and skin

Brain fog

Increased body fat

Mental fatigue

Poor mood

Low libido

Sleep disturbances and more

The above symptoms may also be caused by thyroid disorder, sleep apnea, medication side effects, nutritional deficiencies, or environmental toxins. That is why we conduct a thorough questionnaire, robust labs, and comprehensive consultation to identify all potential contributing factors and treat the body as a whole.

Low Testosterone Explained

For many men, testosterone levels will stealthily decline with age; the extent can vary considerably between individuals. Genetic and lifestyle factors play a big role in when this onset might occur. Lack of exercise, poor nutritional status, stress, elevated toxic burden, and other factors can greatly speed up when a man will experience symptoms associated with diminishing testosterone levels.

In general, by the time a man hits 50, his testosterone levels have dropped by nearly 50%. Low testosterone symptoms can greatly impact a man’s life, making it difficult to accomplish day-to-day tasks and activities. This is where we shine.

Hormone replacement therapy at Hormone Therapy of Orlando simply helps to replenish important sex hormones that support so many important physiological functions. These hormones bind to receptor sites located throughout the body and play key roles in supporting long-term health and homeostasis.

Thankfully, more studies surrounding men’s health are emerging, and the new studies are promising. Awareness surrounding hormone replacement therapy has improved much in recent years, and hopefully it continues. See the most recent studies here.

Research and Safety Context

01 — Testosterone and Cardiovascular Safety

The TRAVERSE trial evaluated cardiovascular safety in more than 5,000 men aged 45 to 80 with symptoms of hypogonadism, two fasting testosterone measurements below 300 ng/dL, and either existing cardiovascular disease or elevated cardiovascular risk. Participants received daily transdermal testosterone gel or placebo gel. Results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023.

Testosterone therapy met the study’s criteria for noninferiority to placebo for major adverse cardiac events. The investigators also reported higher rates of nonfatal arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, acute kidney injury, and pulmonary embolism in the testosterone group. Current guidance advises caution in men with a history of venous thromboembolism.

02 — What This Evidence Does and Does Not Establish

These findings apply to the trial population, which was men meeting diagnostic criteria for hypogonadism. Noninferiority for cardiac events is not evidence that testosterone therapy improves cardiovascular health. The investigators stated that the results should not be used to justify broad prescribing of testosterone to aging men.

03 — Testosterone Is a Controlled Substance

Testosterone is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States. It requires a valid prescription, an appropriate clinical indication, and ongoing monitoring.

How We Evaluate Testosterone Levels

Your first visit is a relaxed conversation with a wellness coach about your symptoms, health history, and goals. This visit helps determine whether hormone therapy is worth exploring.

If you decide to move forward, the next step is your comprehensive laboratory panel, provider consultation, and medical clearance.

Your provider reviews your laboratory panel alongside your history, symptoms, and health and wellness goals, then builds your treatment plan with those goals in mind.

Our clinical team operates under the medical oversight of Dr. Luis Martinez, with additional physician guidance available for complex cases when appropriate.

Most patients begin treatment within about a week, with medications prepared by our licensed pharmacy partners and shipped conveniently to your door.

While your protocol is being dialed in, your care team monitors your progress throughout routine check-ins and follow-up labs. Once you’re optimized, we retest only when clinically necessary, and most follow-ups can be handled by telehealth.

Labs With a Purpose

Real answers start with the real data. Every plan here begins with robust hormone testing, not a standard panel run at your average doctor’s office.

Your labs continue to matter after day one. As treatment progresses, we retest what is clinically necessary, keeping your evaluation precise and purposeful.

Membership plans start at $199 and cover your medication refills, clinician visits, medication management, dose adjustments, and direct access to your care team.

Who Is a Candidate

Many men with bothersome low testosterone symptoms may be candidates for an evaluation. Whether hormone therapy is right for you depends on the indication, medical history, examination, risk factors, and treatment preferences. You may be a candidate if:

You have symptoms, and your levels have never been properly measured.
Previous testing showed low or borderline results with no clear next step.
You were prescribed testosterone elsewhere without ongoing monitoring.
You want a diagnosis confirmed before considering treatment.

Testosterone therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Active prostate cancer, untreated severe obstructive sleep apnea, elevated hematocrit, uncontrolled heart failure, and a recent cardiovascular event are reasons to delay treatment, avoid it, or pursue a different approach. A history of venous thromboembolism may also warrant particular caution. Your provider reviews these with you before prescribing anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does TRT cost in Orlando?

Everything starts with a Discovery Consultation. If you decide to move forward, we’ll walk you through your options and pricing before you commit to anything.

Some symptoms may improve within the first several weeks, while others may take longer. Your clinician should reassess response, adverse effects, and whether another condition or treatment is contributing to persistent symptoms.

The TRAVERSE trial found testosterone noninferior to placebo for major adverse cardiac events among men who met diagnostic criteria for hypogonadism. The same trial also reported higher rates of nonfatal arrhythmias, acute kidney injury, and pulmonary embolism. Monitoring supports safe prescribing, but it does not eliminate risk, and suitability still depends on your individual history.

Testosterone therapy typically suppresses sperm production and can impair fertility. Tell your provider before starting if you are planning to father children, as some approaches may help preserve fertility, and in some situations delaying treatment is appropriate.

That is a decision you make with your provider. Testosterone therapy suppresses the body’s own production, so symptoms commonly return after stopping unless an underlying cause has been addressed. If you want to discontinue, your provider can help you do that safely.

Borderline results generally warrant further assessment rather than immediate treatment. Your provider may repeat testing, evaluate free testosterone alongside total testosterone, and look for contributing factors including sleep apnea, body weight, medications, and thyroid function.

Our evaluation is based on confirmed lab testing and a clinical assessment, not a questionnaire alone. Ongoing monitoring of hematocrit, PSA, and estradiol is part of treatment here, and we adjust dosing based on results.

We are located in Altamonte Springs, a short drive from downtown Orlando. Men come to us from Winter Park, Maitland, Longwood, Apopka, and throughout Central Florida. We build visit schedules around longer drives.
